Authoritative terms
Perfect Pedigree Limited Lifetime Health Guarantee
1. Purpose of the guarantee
Perfect Pedigree (Thailand) Co., Ltd. takes extensive steps to assess every puppy’s health before delivery.
This Limited Lifetime Health Guarantee provides the original customer with a defined replacement remedy if a puppy supplied by Perfect Pedigree is diagnosed with a qualifying serious congenital or hereditary condition.
No seller or veterinarian can guarantee that a dog will remain free from every illness throughout its life. This guarantee applies only to the conditions and circumstances expressly described below.
2. When the guarantee begins
The guarantee begins when the puppy is delivered to, or collected by, the customer.
No additional veterinary examination is required to activate or preserve the guarantee.
Customers are encouraged to establish care with their own veterinarian as part of responsible ongoing care, but the guarantee does not depend on arranging an examination within a fixed period after delivery.
3. Duration and geographic scope
Except where a specific age limit is stated, lifetime coverage continues for the natural life of the dog.
The guarantee applies only where:
- the dog ordinarily resides in Thailand when the condition is diagnosed;
- the claim is submitted and assessed while the dog ordinarily resides in Thailand;
- the dog is reasonably available in Thailand for any examination required during the assessment; and
- the veterinary evidence is provided by a veterinarian properly licensed to practise in Thailand.
The guarantee does not apply while the dog ordinarily resides outside Thailand.
4. Eligible customer and dog
The guarantee applies only to the original customer named in Perfect Pedigree’s sale records.
It is not transferable to another person or owner unless Perfect Pedigree expressly agrees otherwise in writing.
The customer must be able to verify the dog’s identity through its microchip number and supporting records.
5. Original Puppy Price
The Original Puppy Price means the agreed price paid for the puppy itself after any discount.
It does not include:
- delivery or transport;
- kennelling or boarding;
- payment-processing or transfer charges;
- veterinary expenses;
- crates, accessories or supplies;
- documentation or administrative charges;
- travel, accommodation or other additional services or expenses.
Perfect Pedigree’s maximum aggregate liability under this guarantee is limited to the Original Puppy Price.
The Original Puppy Price is a liability limit. It does not create an entitlement to receive that amount in cash or to claim veterinary expenses up to that amount.
6. Veterinary examinations, testing and health preparation before delivery
Every Perfect Pedigree puppy follows a comprehensive veterinary health programme before delivery.
This is a core part of the Perfect Pedigree service and is provided for every puppy.
Before joining their new family, each puppy visits a qualified, registered veterinarian at least twice.
The veterinary programme includes:
Comprehensive physical examination
The puppy receives a complete physical examination, including assessment of their general health, physical development, eyes, ears, mouth, skin, coat, heart, lungs, abdomen, limbs, joints and movement.
Complete blood testing
The puppy receives:
- a complete blood count;
- blood biochemistry testing; and
- blood-parasite testing.
Parvovirus antigen testing
The puppy receives a canine parvovirus antigen test before delivery.
Faecal microscopy
A faecal sample is examined microscopically for:
- protozoa;
- internal parasites;
- worm eggs; and
- abnormal bacterial activity.
Vaccination
The puppy receives the vaccinations appropriate to their age at the time of delivery.
The vaccinations administered and the date of the next vaccination or booster are recorded in the puppy’s vaccination booklet.
Internal and external parasite protection
Every puppy receives appropriate internal and external parasite treatment before delivery.
The veterinarian selects the most suitable product or combination of products according to the puppy’s age, weight, health and veterinary needs.
This protection addresses intestinal worms, fleas, ticks and other relevant parasite risks.
Microchip identification
The puppy is implanted with an ISO-compliant 15-digit animal-identification microchip.
The microchip number is recorded in the puppy’s veterinary and identification documentation.
Veterinary documents and laboratory results
The customer receives the puppy’s relevant original health and identification documents, including:
- the signed veterinary health certificate and health report;
- the vaccination booklet;
- the blood-test and laboratory results;
- the microchip certificate; and
- the pet passport.
The individual veterinary records supplied with the puppy document the examinations, tests, vaccinations and treatments completed.
This extensive programme is designed to identify health concerns before delivery and provide the customer with clear, documented evidence of the puppy’s health.
No examination or testing programme can identify every congenital, hereditary or developmental condition that may become apparent later. The Limited Lifetime Health Guarantee provides the additional protection described in the remaining sections of these terms.
7. Qualifying congenital and hereditary conditions
A congenital condition is a condition present from birth, whether inherited or arising during development before birth.
A hereditary condition is a condition caused by inherited genetic factors.
A condition qualifies for lifetime coverage only where it:
- is more likely than not congenital or hereditary;
- is serious and lasting rather than minor, temporary or readily resolved;
- causes, or is reasonably expected to cause, substantial and permanent impairment; and
- materially affects the dog’s health, quality of life or ability to live a normal life despite reasonable veterinary care.
The fact that a condition can sometimes have a genetic component is not sufficient. The evidence must establish that the condition affecting the particular dog is more likely than not congenital or hereditary.
Minor, temporary, cosmetic or readily treatable conditions do not qualify, even where they may have been present from birth or have a possible hereditary component.
8. Death caused by a congenital or hereditary condition
Coverage applies where the dog dies, or is euthanised on veterinary grounds, as a direct result of a qualifying serious congenital or hereditary condition.
The cause of death and its congenital or hereditary nature must be supported by sufficient veterinary and diagnostic evidence.
The evidence and necropsy requirements in this guarantee apply.
9. Fatal parvovirus and canine distemper protection
In addition to congenital and hereditary coverage, protection applies where a puppy develops confirmed canine parvovirus or canine distemper shortly after delivery and the illness results in death or euthanasia recommended on veterinary grounds.
For this protection to apply:
- the first clinical signs must have appeared within seven calendar days after delivery;
- the diagnosis must be supported by appropriate veterinary examination, diagnostic testing and complete clinical records;
- the customer must notify Perfect Pedigree as soon as reasonably possible;
- Perfect Pedigree must be given reasonable access to the treating veterinarian and all relevant records;
- the dog must ordinarily reside and receive treatment in Thailand; and
- Perfect Pedigree must be able to obtain an independent veterinary review of the diagnosis, evidence and likely timing of infection.
The puppy does not have to die within the seven-day period, provided the first clinical signs appeared within that period and the subsequent fatal outcome resulted directly from the confirmed disease.
Other viral, bacterial, fungal, contagious or parasitic diseases are not covered under this section.
Veterinary and treatment expenses are not reimbursed.
10. Severe hip dysplasia
Severe hip dysplasia is covered until the dog’s fourth birthday only where all of the following requirements are satisfied:
- The relevant clinical signs began before the dog’s fourth birthday and written notice was provided to Perfect Pedigree before that date.
- Properly obtained diagnostic radiographs classify the condition as OFA Moderate or Severe, FCI Grade D or E, or an equivalent level of radiographic severity confirmed by an appropriately qualified veterinarian or specialist appointed or approved by Perfect Pedigree.
- The dog has persistent, clinically documented pain, lameness or substantial impairment of normal movement or quality of life that is attributable to the hip dysplasia.
- An appropriately qualified veterinarian with relevant orthopaedic expertise concludes that major corrective orthopaedic surgery is medically recommended and reasonably necessary.
- Where surgery is medically contraindicated or inappropriate, coverage may apply only if an independent veterinarian with relevant orthopaedic expertise confirms that the condition is of comparable severity and causes substantial permanent disability.
- The condition is consistent with primary developmental canine hip dysplasia and was not caused or materially aggravated by trauma, obesity, inappropriate exercise, improper nutrition, neglect, delayed veterinary care or another condition arising after delivery.
The following do not qualify:
- OFA Borderline or Mild findings;
- FCI Grade B or C;
- hip laxity or an increased future-risk score without qualifying clinical disease;
- preliminary or screening findings that have not been independently confirmed;
- radiographic abnormalities without material clinical impairment;
- arthritis or degenerative change whose cause cannot reliably be attributed to developmental hip dysplasia;
- surgery suggested only as an elective, precautionary or optional measure.
For dogs under 24 months of age, a preliminary grade or screening result alone is insufficient. A claim may qualify only where severe and clinically disabling developmental hip dysplasia is independently confirmed and major corrective surgery is medically recommended.
The customer must provide:
- the original diagnostic files rather than screenshots or photographs of them;
- complete clinical records;
- the dog’s microchip number;
- the dog’s name and date of birth;
- the date of imaging;
- the clinic and veterinarian’s details;
- relevant body-weight and body-condition information;
- relevant history of symptoms, injury, exercise and care.
Perfect Pedigree may require repeat imaging, specialist examination or independent review before accepting a claim.
The customer’s veterinarian’s opinion is relevant evidence but is not automatically binding or conclusive.
11. Severe elbow dysplasia
Severe elbow dysplasia is covered until the dog’s fourth birthday only where:
- the relevant clinical signs began and written notice was provided before the dog’s fourth birthday;
- the diagnosis and severity are supported by appropriate diagnostic imaging and complete clinical records;
- the condition causes persistent pain, lameness or substantial impairment of normal movement or quality of life;
- major corrective treatment or surgery is medically recommended and reasonably necessary, or comparable permanent disability is independently confirmed;
- the diagnosis and severity are confirmed by an appropriately qualified veterinarian or specialist appointed or approved by Perfect Pedigree; and
- the condition was not caused or materially aggravated by trauma, obesity, inappropriate exercise, improper nutrition, neglect, delayed veterinary care or another condition arising after delivery.
Mild, incidental, preliminary or radiographic-only findings without material clinical impairment do not qualify.
Perfect Pedigree may require original diagnostic files, repeat imaging, specialist examination or independent review.
12. Severe patellar luxation
Severe patellar luxation is covered until the dog’s fourth birthday only where:
- the relevant clinical signs began and written notice was provided before the dog’s fourth birthday;
- the condition is Grade 3 or Grade 4, or of independently confirmed equivalent severity;
- the condition causes persistent pain, lameness, abnormal gait or substantial impairment of normal movement or quality of life;
- corrective surgery is medically recommended and reasonably necessary, or comparable permanent disability is independently confirmed;
- the diagnosis and severity are confirmed by an appropriately qualified veterinarian or specialist appointed or approved by Perfect Pedigree; and
- the condition was not caused or materially aggravated by trauma, obesity, inappropriate exercise, neglect or another condition arising after delivery.
Grade 1 or Grade 2 patellar luxation, intermittent findings without substantial impairment and precautionary or elective surgery do not qualify.
13. Infectious and parasitic diseases
Except for the specific fatal parvovirus and canine distemper protection in Section 9, infectious, contagious and parasitic diseases are not covered.
This includes conditions caused by:
- viruses;
- bacteria;
- fungi;
- protozoa;
- internal parasites;
- external parasites;
- other transmissible organisms.
The source and timing of these conditions cannot reliably be controlled or attributed after delivery.
14. Other conditions and circumstances not covered
The guarantee does not cover:
- minor, temporary or readily treatable conditions;
- cosmetic abnormalities;
- conditions that do not materially and permanently affect health or quality of life;
- retained deciduous teeth;
- minor umbilical hernias;
- undescended testicles;
- minor dental or bite misalignment;
- ordinary allergies or skin sensitivities;
- injury, poisoning or trauma;
- conditions acquired after delivery;
- vaccination reactions;
- elective or preventive procedures;
- conditions caused or materially aggravated by obesity, inappropriate exercise, poor nutrition, neglect, delayed treatment or inadequate care;
- conditions whose cause cannot be reliably determined;
- conditions for which the evidence does not establish that a congenital or hereditary cause is more likely than not;
- breeding ability, fertility or reproductive performance;
- suitability for showing, competition or breeding;
- adult size, weight, colour, coat development or appearance;
- temperament, personality, behaviour or trainability.
A condition disclosed in writing and accepted by the customer before delivery is excluded to the extent described in that disclosure.
15. Veterinary and treatment expenses
The guarantee is a replacement-based guarantee.
Perfect Pedigree does not reimburse, pay or accept liability for:
- veterinary consultations;
- diagnostic tests;
- medication;
- surgery;
- hospitalisation;
- emergency treatment;
- rehabilitation;
- preventive care;
- ongoing treatment or care;
- insurance premiums or excesses;
- transport to or from veterinary facilities;
- any other veterinary, medical or care-related expense.
This exclusion applies whether or not the condition is ultimately accepted as covered.
Obtaining treatment or incurring veterinary expenses does not create an obligation for Perfect Pedigree to reimburse those expenses.
16. Customer responsibilities
The customer must provide reasonable and appropriate care throughout the dog’s life, including:
- appropriate nutrition and clean water;
- maintenance of a healthy body condition;
- exercise suitable for the dog’s age, breed and health;
- appropriate vaccination and parasite prevention;
- timely veterinary attention;
- compliance with reasonable veterinary advice;
- protection from neglect, mistreatment and preventable injury.
A claim may be declined where the customer’s action or omission:
- caused or materially contributed to the condition;
- materially worsened the condition;
- prevented timely diagnosis or treatment; or
- prevents Perfect Pedigree from reliably determining its cause or severity.
An unrelated or immaterial lapse in care will not automatically invalidate the guarantee.
Annual reports or routine annual updates to Perfect Pedigree are not required.
17. Notification of a potential claim
The customer must notify Perfect Pedigree in writing through an official Perfect Pedigree contact channel as soon as reasonably possible after becoming aware of a potentially covered condition.
For a congenital or hereditary condition, notification should normally be made within 14 calendar days after:
- the diagnosis; or
- the first veterinary advice that the condition may be congenital or hereditary.
For parvovirus, canine distemper or a potentially covered death, the customer must notify Perfect Pedigree immediately where reasonably possible.
Notification must include:
- the customer’s name;
- the dog’s identity and microchip number;
- the treating clinic;
- the date symptoms first appeared;
- a summary of the concern.
A delay will not automatically invalidate a claim. A claim may, however, be declined where the delay materially impairs Perfect Pedigree’s ability to investigate, verify or assess it.
18. Evidence required
The customer must provide all information reasonably required to assess the claim, which may include:
- the dog’s microchip number;
- the original sale and delivery details;
- complete veterinary records relating to the condition;
- the treating veterinarian’s written diagnosis and clinical reasoning;
- examination findings;
- laboratory results;
- original radiographs, scans and other diagnostic files;
- photographs or video;
- treatment recommendations;
- relevant historical veterinary records;
- evidence concerning diet, weight, exercise, injury and care;
- a necropsy report where reasonably required.
The customer must authorise the treating clinic to communicate directly with Perfect Pedigree and with any veterinarian or specialist appointed by Perfect Pedigree.
The evidence must be sufficiently detailed to address:
- the nature of the condition;
- its severity;
- its likely cause;
- when symptoms began;
- its expected long-term effect;
- whether it meets the requirements of this guarantee.
19. Veterinary reports are not automatically conclusive
The opinion of the customer’s veterinarian is relevant evidence but is not automatically binding or conclusive.
A claim will not be accepted solely because a report uses words such as “congenital”, “genetic”, “hereditary” or “severe”.
Perfect Pedigree may require:
- clarification from the treating veterinarian;
- complete underlying records and diagnostic files;
- a second veterinary opinion;
- further diagnostic testing;
- specialist examination or review;
- independent review of the diagnosis, severity and likely cause.
Perfect Pedigree may appoint an appropriately licensed veterinarian or relevant specialist to review the evidence.
Perfect Pedigree will pay the professional fee of a reviewer appointed solely by Perfect Pedigree to assess existing evidence.
The customer remains responsible for consultations, examinations, tests, imaging, treatment and other veterinary services performed for the dog.
20. Death and necropsy evidence
Where the dog dies and the customer claims that the death resulted from a covered condition, sufficient veterinary evidence of the cause of death must be provided.
Perfect Pedigree may require a necropsy where reasonably necessary.
The customer must notify Perfect Pedigree before cremation, burial or other disposal of the body wherever reasonably possible.
A claim may be declined where the body or other important evidence is disposed of after the customer has been informed that a necropsy or further examination is required.
Where a necropsy was genuinely impossible, Perfect Pedigree will consider the remaining evidence, but the customer must still provide sufficient evidence to establish the claim.
21. Accuracy and preservation of evidence
The customer must not alter, conceal, destroy, substitute or misrepresent evidence relating to a claim.
A claim may be declined where:
- the dog’s identity cannot be verified;
- records or diagnostic materials have been falsified or materially altered;
- material facts have been deliberately concealed;
- the customer refuses reasonable access to veterinary records;
- the customer prevents reasonable communication with the treating clinic;
- relevant evidence is destroyed after a reasonable preservation request;
- the claim is fraudulent or materially misleading.
An innocent administrative mistake will not be treated as fraud.
22. Assessment of claims
Perfect Pedigree will assess each claim individually and in good faith.
The assessment may consider:
- the diagnosis and supporting clinical evidence;
- the quality, reliability and completeness of the records;
- the seriousness and expected duration of the condition;
- whether the condition materially affects normal life or quality of life;
- whether a congenital or hereditary cause is more likely than not;
- whether environmental, traumatic or care-related factors caused or aggravated the condition;
- any independent veterinary or specialist opinion;
- whether the customer has complied with the claim requirements.
Perfect Pedigree may defer its decision until the information reasonably required to assess the claim has been received.
23. Sole remedy for an accepted claim
The sole remedy for an accepted claim is the right to select a replacement puppy offered by Perfect Pedigree with a puppy price up to the Original Puppy Price.
The replacement is subject to the following conditions:
- availability cannot be guaranteed;
- no particular breed, sex, colour, age or delivery date is guaranteed;
- the customer may select a higher-priced puppy by paying the difference;
- no cash payment or credit is due if the selected puppy has a lower price;
- the replacement entitlement cannot be sold, transferred or redeemed for cash;
- delivery and all ancillary expenses relating to the replacement are paid separately by the customer;
- the customer keeps the original dog;
- the original dog will not be returned or surrendered to Perfect Pedigree.
The customer must select an available replacement puppy within 12 months after written acceptance of the claim.
Perfect Pedigree may extend that period in writing where suitable availability is limited. Unless an extension is agreed, the replacement entitlement expires after 12 months.
The entitlement may also expire where the customer fails to respond within a reasonable period or repeatedly declines suitable puppies without a reasonable basis.
24. Satisfaction of the guarantee
Perfect Pedigree’s aggregate liability arising from the original sale is capped at the Original Puppy Price.
Once a replacement puppy has been supplied, the accepted claim and Perfect Pedigree’s replacement obligation arising from the original sale are fully satisfied.
The replacement does not create a recurring or unlimited right to further replacement puppies, refunds, credits or payments.
The replacement puppy will receive Perfect Pedigree’s normal pre-delivery veterinary examinations, laboratory testing, preventive care and documentation.
25. No return or surrender
Perfect Pedigree will not require, request or accept the return or surrender of the affected dog as a condition of a claim.
The customer remains responsible for the dog’s care, treatment and welfare.
26. No cash refund
The guarantee does not provide a cash, bank-transfer, card or other monetary refund.
A replacement entitlement is the sole contractual remedy offered under this guarantee.
27. Other excluded costs and losses
Perfect Pedigree is not responsible under this guarantee for:
- delivery or transport;
- kennelling or boarding;
- travel or accommodation;
- obtaining veterinary records or diagnostic files;
- attending examinations or specialist appointments;
- costs associated with receiving a replacement puppy;
- loss of earnings or commercial opportunity;
- expected breeding income;
- emotional distress or loss of companionship;
- indirect, incidental or consequential loss.
29. Applicable version
The version of the guarantee in effect on the puppy’s delivery date applies to that sale.
Perfect Pedigree may amend the guarantee for future sales.
A later amendment does not retrospectively alter the version applying to a puppy already delivered.
30. Applicable law
This guarantee is governed by the laws of Thailand.
Nothing in it limits any right that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
